How to make a home fire escape plan?

This home suffered severe fire damage. We worked hard to recover the structure and the contents so that the family could return to a safe and clean space.

House fires can spread quickly, which means fire preparation is key to keeping your family safe in an emergency. Making a fire escape plan is a crucial part of being prepared. Gather your family together and locate all possible exits through windows and doors. Choose a location outside of the house to run to in the event of a fire. It can be a neighbor's yard, your mailbox or a stop sign. Once you have a plan in place it's important to practice. Tell children ahead of time that you will be doing a fire drill, set off the fire alarm and watch them master this important skill.
