Why is my fire alarm beeping?
This home suffered smoke damage due to a grease fire in the kitchen. We were able to remove all of the contents out so we could clean thoroughly and start with the mitigation process.
A fire alarm system is a vital component of the safety measures you need for your home. Your smoke detectors are designed to alert you whenever there is smoke or a sudden rise in temperature. There are other reasons they may beep, though:
- Low battery
- Steam or humidity
- Burned food
- Improper placement
- Detector malfunction
Our experts recommend that you test your smoke detectors once a month to ensure that they are working properly. If you press the button and the alarm sounds, you know your battery is working. It's a good idea to replace batteries every six months so that they don't run out of power between tests.
